Diploma of Nursing Sample SOP

Student Name: IDEC Student

I am happy to state that I am writing this Statement of Purpose for the enrollment in Diploma of  Nursing in Institution Name. I am your name, son of father’s name and mother’s name. I am a  permanent resident of your address born on date of birth. I am the younger sibling of my parents  with an elder sister, sister’s name. Ever since my childhood, I had a caring and empathetic nature  and a vision of serving for mankind. Therefore I decided to choose to nurse as my career. I  completed my High School in science faculty with biology as my major subject to pursue my  education in the medical field.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION

As per my academic qualification, I completed my School Leaving Certificate (SLC) in 2016  with a GPA of *** from the school name. After that, I completed my Higher Secondary  Education from institution name with a GPA of *** in 2018. Since I had always dreamed of  acquiring an international degree, I started to take PTE classes and gave an exam on 5 October  2018 and scored 74 as an overall band score with 71 in Listening, 81 in Reading, 79 in Speaking  and 68 in Writing.

REASONS FOR CHOOSING AUSTRALIA OVER OTHER COUNTRIES

Choosing an educational destination to continue my higher education was not easy. I did intense  research regarding popular destinations for abroad studies and I found countless reasons for  choosing Australia for my further study.

Firstly, Australia actually has some of the best colleges and universities in the world. 8 out of  100 top universities in the world are in Australia. Likewise, 5 out of the 30 best cities in the  world are in Australia. With more than one thousand universities, training colleges, English  language institutions and schools, international students can choose from over 25,000 courses.  No wonder, Australia is currently the third most popular destination for international students in  the English-speaking world. The Australian Government regulates the education system in order  to maintain a high standard of education associated with the country.

Many international and local students are succeeding in their careers by studying in Australia as  there is a wide range of courses with a top-class quality of education for both international and  local students. All the multi-cultural backgrounds of students, great quality of education and  governmental and institutional support for international students are some of the great aspects  that have made Australia a more attractive destination for students all over the world. Australia is  an English speaking country and has a safe and friendly society in which students can learn and  travel freely. It is one of the best places in the world to study and has a strong international  reputation for Higher Education.

Australia’s standard of living is amongst the highest in the world. The crime rate is very low and  living expenses and tuition costs are considerably lower in Australia than they are in the USA,  UK and Canada. To study in the USA, students need to sit for competitive exams like SAT or  ACT which takes a lot of time. In the UK the currency value is really high. The Australian

currency is a lot more economical for international students. There is no Tuition Protection  Scheme in the USA and UK and fees are higher than Australia which makes us feel insecure.  When it comes to feeling safe and secured the USA is not a very reliable country as we used to  hear about crime issues every day. Also, it takes 4 years to complete a bachelor’s degree in the  USA where I can complete just in 3 years from Australia. There are no PSW facilities like  Australia in most of the other countries. The climatic condition of Canada is very cold compared  to Nepal which makes it harder for Nepalese to reside there. Talking about other Asian countries  like Japan, China and European countries like Germany, France, Italy language is the key. So I  would have to invest a lot of time to learn a foreign language which would take a lot of time.

The Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework monitors and protects the  rights of overseas students studying in Australia including a right to information on courses, fees,  and other information about the college. The Tuition Protection Scheme (TPS), an initiative  taken by the Australian Government, monitors the placement and refund service for international  students. As being a student myself, this is a very pleasing arrangement as I don’t have to worry  about losing my investment in the study. I can rest be assured that I shall graduate from Australia  without any setbacks. Moreover, Australia also provides PSW opportunities which will help me  gain experience that will help in my career back in my own country. Also, Australia has special  health insurance coverage for international students called Overseas Students Health Cover  (OSHC) which will cover any kind of health emergency care required during my stay. I had also  collected feedback from the students studying in Australia already and received a positive  response from them about the teaching quality, student life in Australia and finally decided to  study in Australia, not in other Countries.

REASONS FOR NOT CHOOSING NEPAL

Before deciding to opt for an international degree, I researched on the web about my interested  course here in Nepal. In Nepal, there are not many good universities and teaching institutions.  There are only 5 accredited universities in Nepal which are Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu  University, Pokhara University, Purbanchal University, and Mid Western University. Also, there  are some institutions that provide a Diploma of Nursing here in Nepal. Namely, some of them  are CTEVT, BPKIHS, Manmohan Institute of Health Science, Vinayak College of Health  Science, Om Health Campus, Norvic Institute of Nursing Education and few others. At the  moment the competition is very tough for these universities and institutes. Students need to sit  through various entrance examinations which have only a limited number of seats for admission.  These take a lot of time for preparation. There are many people who have been trying for 3-4  years and are still unable to secure a seat. The quality of education provided is not as good as  compared to the international one. It has a traditional teaching method and only believes in the  marks obtained by the student rather than their practical knowledge. The degree holds very little  value compared to an international degree. Due to this finding job with a national degree is very  difficult as well. There is no use of modern technologies in the classroom. The courses are very  rarely revised due to which there is a lack of new information and students are taught old courses  only. It is theoretically based only and there is no proper timing of exam and result either.  Furthermore, If I study in Nepal I will always be under the roof of my parent’s care. Along with  an international degree in Australia, I will learn to be an independent person by performing all  my daily chores and responsibilities myself. I will learn to face every circumstance by my own

which is a very important aspect of an individual’s life. Overall, I believe that I will grow as a  responsible, self-dependent and confident person when I return back to my native land. Also,  while studying abroad, I will have the opportunity to meet students from different countries so  that we can exchange ideas and culture with each other.

REASONS FOR CHOOSING INSTITUTION NAME.

With my further research, I got to know that Institution Name is a Registered Training  Organization (RTO) that has been leading the way in the delivery of community services, health  and nursing training services since 1999. Institution Name is dedicated to providing the highest  quality training and assessment services to the students. Institution Name provides a wide range  of courses in the field of the health sector. I want to study a Diploma of Nursing institution Name as it provides education with the use of new technologies and equipment. Institution Name has  placement agreements with some of the best public and private hospitals and health care  organizations.

in the state including Eastern Health, Austin Health, Monash Health and Healthscope which will  be a good experience for my career. It offers one of the most comprehensive ranges of innovative  and internationally organized degree in Australia. It has one of the best Diploma of Nursing  programs in Melbourne which is composed of various cultures and people from over 200  countries. Not only this, it provides a quality educational and inspirational setting with very  affordable fees having AUD ***** per semester. Institution Name has committed to continuous  improvements, working hard to develop, implement and deliver the course and professional  development program. There are other institutes like Institute of Health and Nursing Australia  (IHNA), Holmesglen TAFE and Australian Centre of Further Education (ACFE), Australian  Harbour International College, Southern Cross Education Institute, Queensford College, Think  Education, RGIT, Curtin’s College and many more that provide the same quality of education for  Diploma of Nursing as Institution Name but many these have a study plan for 2 years while  Institution Name provides the same education within 1.5 years. The fees of IHNA, Holmesglen  and ACFE are also higher than that of Institution Name which makes Institution Name more  favorable than other institutes. Southern Cross Education Institute is located in Adelaide and  Queensford College in Brisbane. But I had an interest in studying in Melbourne. The  environment is an important factor of consideration. As per my research, the weather change in  Melbourne really fascinated me. Melbourne is often ranked amongst the world’s most liveable  cities every year. Considering the city and institute, I found Institution Name as the best option  for my higher education. The degree will provide me career paths in the health sector with many  opportunities which is why I have chosen Institution Name for my further study.

WHY STUDY NURSING COURSE?

Nursing is all about the patient. It’s a career that helps us save lives, bring happiness to  individuals and their families and comfort to those in need. From mental health and aged care to  rehabilitation and midwifery, there are many areas where we can make a positive impact. If we  are a compassionate, strong-valued person with an urge to help others, studying nursing is a great  career move. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness and cares if ill,  disabled and terminally ill people. Studying Nursing leads to a career as a registered nurse with a

broad range of opportunities including hospital care, community health, pediatrics, mental  health, aged care and many more.

Nursing is one of the few professions that allow us to match our careers with our lifestyle.  Instead of working 9 to 5 every day, we’ll have the opportunity to choose a schedule that best fits  into our life. Daily shifts in the nursing range between four to twelve hours, which means we’ll  have time to dedicate to family and other commitments. In terms of placement, most people  associate nurses with working at their local hospitals. However, we can also find employment in  schools, government agencies and home care facilities. Besides nursing is a respected profession  that works on the front lines of patient care every day. Depending on the type of nurse we train to  be, we could be working in a hospital, emergency ward, long-term care facility, or any number of  other medical facilities. Working directly with patients every day can give us a sense of purpose  and a feeling of accomplishment. In the field of nursing, there are many different options. Some  of them are home health aide, nursing assistant, practical nurse, a registered nurse and nurse  practitioner. While it takes at least 10 to 12 years to become a doctor, it takes only 3 to 4 years to  become a professional nurse. Likewise, patients aren’t just female but male as well due to which  male patients will feel much comfortable with the male nurse as they would be able to  understand them much better. Due to all these reasons, there is much scope for men in nursing  which is why I have applied for it. But the main reason would be because the greatest reward of  nursing is the knowledge that we are making a positive difference in the lives of our patients.  While many other jobs may have an indirect impact on others, nursing has a direct impact. We  work with patients every single day to help improve their health, wellness, and comfort. It’s  definitely a job to feel proud of. So, I have chosen a Nursing career in my life.

COURSE DESCRIPTION OF DIPLOMA OF NURSING IN SKILLS TRAINING  AUSTRALIA

The Diploma of Nursing is made up of 25 units of competency, which I will need to complete to  gain the qualification and apply for registration as an Enrolled Nurse which are following safe  work practices for direct client care, confirming physical health status, complying with infection  control policies and procedures, working with diverse people, practicing nursing within the  Australian healthcare system, implementing, monitoring and evaluating nursing care plans,  reflecting on and improving own professional practice and applying the nursing practice in the  primary health care setting, etc. 400 hours of clinical placement will be arranged for students as  part of a study. Diploma of Nursing can be studied 3 days a week for 1.5 years or 2 days a week  for 2 years. I must attend a total of 10 weeks of unpaid clinical placement in a range of clinical  settings which is arranged by Skills Training Australia and provided through STA’s clinical  partners in the greater Melbourne area. The full tuition fee for the course will be AUD 19,500.

WHY DIPLOMA AND WHY NOTY BACHELOR IN NURSING

I had a clear choice of directly Bachelor of Nursing after completing +2. But I decided to study a  Diploma of Nursing in Institution Name first which will allow me to understand Australian  culture and education system. Enrolling directly in Bachelor might be a bit of a challenge. With a  Diploma course, I can get to adjust to the academic environment, teaching system and types of  assessment. By the time I will get introduced to the basic theories, notions and elements of

Nursing so that I actually get prepared for my further degree. Moreover, I will build confidence  for further years of study to follow. Then after finishing the Diploma of Nursing in Skills  Training Australia, I plan to study the Bachelors of Nursing in Australia itself so that I can  become a registered nurse. For studying Bachelors of Nursing I have researched some  universities as well which are Australian Catholic University, Victoria University, La Trobe  University, Federation University, Monash University, Deakin University, RMIT and Swinburne  University of Technology. Also, I would get a facility of credit transfer for my Bachelor’s degree  through which I can study 2 years Bachelor in Nursing and become a registered nurse. Also, I  can study in small class sizes in college where it will be easy for me to compete with the  students.

FUTURE PLANS AFTER MY COURSE COMPLETION AND INCENTIVES TO  RETURN

Nursing is a noble and altruistic profession which is for those people who are passionate about  health and well-being and enjoy caring for people. After completing the Bachelor of Nursing and  becoming a registered nurse, I will fully utilize the opportunity of 2 years PSW to gain practical  experiences. It will help me a lot to set a career back in my home country. After that, I will return  back to my home country and use my knowledge, training, experience that I have learned to  bring at least a small change for uplifting the health of people and serve my country. I would be  able to set an example to other young men that doctor isn’t the only medical sector for men but  we also have nursing.

My country is a developing country and there are wide opportunities in health sectors. They pay  a high salary for qualified nurses. So, in upcoming days I can work as a senior nurse, supervisor,  mentor in any reputed medical hospitals like Norvic Hospital, Bir Hospital, Om Hospital,  Kathmandu Medical College, Grande International Hospital, T.U Teaching Hospital, etc.  Additionally, I will get the opportunity to work as a nursing officer in different NGOs, INGOs  (Action Aid Nepal, ADRA Nepal, Care International Nepal, Child Welfare Scheme, Leprosy  Mission Nepal, etc.) to upgrade the health of our Nepalese citizens. There are also various job  sites like www.jobsnepal.com, https://merojob.com/, https://publichealthupdate.com/,  https://merorojgari.com/, etc. that we can easily surf to find our desired job. I would be able to  have a nice livelihood as I would have about NPR 70,00 to 80,000 (AUD 800 to 1000) monthly  salary in my own country Nepal. It will get increased as I get more experienced in the future.  That way I will be able to recover my study investment shortly. Besides income, becoming a  medical practitioner will also gain immense prestige in my community. I also plan to contribute  to betterment in the health of the people especially in rural areas of my country by using the  skills that I will have acquired from my study in Australia as they are still deprived of proper  medical care. I am confident that I will get a competitive job here in Nepal with an Australian  degree. If unable to find a competitive job here in the home country, I can also apply for an  international job based on my degree from Australia. I can apply for the Nursing job in southeast  countries, European countries where pay is very high for Registered Nurses. But I will give my  first priority to my home country Nepal as it will be easy for me to work here in Nepal.

I am equally acquainted with the obligations as an international student in Australia. I am the  only son of my family and I carry the responsibility to support and care for them in their old age.

Also, their immense love will always pull me back to my native land. I have certain duties  towards my family and society. We Nepalese follow us every ritual with dedication so in future I  need to be with my family to complete the rituals and ceremonies as I am their only son.  Likewise, I need to care about my parent’s property in the future. Therefore I would like to  assure you that my intention of traveling to Australia is only for quality education. I will return  back to Nepal as a well-educated, experienced and professional nurse.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

I am from an economically sound background family is very supportive regarding my further  studies. So all the expenses for the abroad study will be covered by my family. My family  consists of 4 members including myself. My father is a Customs Officer at the company name  and address and has an annual salary of NPR ******. My mother is working as a Manager in the  Company name. She has an annual salary of NPR ******. My sister is serving as a teacher in  an institution name and earns NPR ****** annually. We also obtain NPR ****** from house  rent and NPR ****** from land lease annually. To sum up, the yearly income of my family is  NPR ******* which is equivalent to***** AUD. Being conscious about my future education,  my family had arranged to maintain savings for past years. Fund of NPR ******* (AUD  ******) is maintained in my mother’s bank account of SBI Bank for my tuition fees, OSHC, a  living and traveling purpose which was transferred via bank name In addition, we have a  property of approx. NPR ******** (******** AUD). So, all the expenses throughout my study  period can be undoubtedly covered by my family’s income in all the possible ways. I am equally  acquainted with the obligations as an international student in Australia. I am the only son of my  family and I carry the responsibility to support and care for them in their old age. Also, their  immense love will always pull me back to my native land. Therefore I would like to assure you  that my intention of traveling to Australia is only for quality education. I will return back to  Nepal as a well-educated, experienced and professional nurse and serve my nation.

VISA CONDITIONS UNDER STUDENT VISA SUBCLASS 500

I would like to state that I am fully aware of my visa conditions which fall under student visa  subclass 500. As per the conditions, I need to have at least 80% attendance each semester. I also  have to provide the details to an institution that I will be studying at and to Australian High  Commission if address changes. Likewise, I must maintain Overseas Students Health Cover  (OSHC) while in Australia and show academic growth. There is work limitation for International  students and I will follow the same. Therefore, I would like to assure you that I will sincerely  obey all the clauses under Visa Subclass 500. Also, I do not have any immigration history in my  profile.

I believe that having quality education and ample exposure to practical based knowledge would  be very helpful to achieve my ultimate goal and launch my career in nursing upon my return to  Nepal. I belong to a financially capable family so it would not create any financial burden to my  family. Finally, I assure you as a sincere international student that I will follow all the rules and  regulations held by the institution as well as the Australian government.

Yours sincerely, Student name DOB: DD/MM/YYYY Passport No: ********
